Greene Street Friends School, a private school in the historic Germantown section of Philadelphia, hired Metcalfe to renovate and restore Hargroves House, a historically significant, early 19th century residence. Preservation of the historic elements of the existing structure was a priority as we coordinated complex zoning and historical preservation requirements with new administrative and faculty meeting spaces. The building’s yard was redesigned to improve its connection with the rest of the Greene Street Friends School’s campus with a paver labyrinth that inspires student play and fosters exploration.
