Visitor Center & Museum Master Plan, Louisville Historical Museum

Louisville, CO

The City of Louisville hired Metcalfe to develop a master plan for their community history museum. We addressed their critical shortage of storage and public gathering space with a new building. Through a series of staff interviews, large-scale public workshops, and careful site analysis, we crafted a new vision for their campus, leveraging existing resources to minimize the space demands for the new construction.

Without moving existing buildings, we reoriented the campus circulation to create a better visitor entry experience, enhance the institution’s relationship to adjacent residential and commercial districts, and maximize all-season social and program spaces.
