Metcalfe conceptualized spaces for Food Moxie’s programming at Stenton Family Manor, including classroom space, farm produce cleaning and storage, farm equipment storage, and infrastructural necessities. We used shipping crates to meet the criteria of Food Moxie’s program, while including a cost-effective method for creating a secure structure and reinforcing Food Moxie’s commitment to use recycled materials.
The Hope Garden at Stenton Family Manor was established in 2009 to improve the nutritional value of meals for residents with locally grown produce. Hope Garden also provides a safe space where young residents can take part in structured gardening and nutrition activities. Hope Kitchen, a culinary program providing practical guidance for how to eat healthy while on a budget was added recently to increase the program’s impact on local families.
